Richard S. Trafton, Ph.D.

With a Ph.D. in Psychology from Southern Illinois University and over 30 years applying the best principles of psychology to the workplace, Rich has held research and faculty positions in psychometrics and human behavior at California State University San Bernardino and Southern Illinois University School of Business. He has also worked in both line and staff positions in the corporate world (such as Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation, Continental Illinois Bank, and Citicorp).

Most recently, as the General Manager of a large global consulting firm in Los Angeles, California, Rich grew the office by 25% in less than two years.


S. Diane Marentette

Diane has over 35 years of experience working in industry and has a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Texas at El Paso.

After 11 years in the human resources department at El Paso Natural Gas, one of the largest natural gas transmission companies in the nation, Diane entered the consulting world and has over 25 years of experience consulting to various industries, including energy, manufacturing, high technology, construction, and others.

Most recently, Diane was a Regional Vice President with a large global consulting firm where she opened a key strategic office and integrated the efforts of the 13 western-most states in serving clients effectively.


Currently, Rich and Diane are the co-founders of The New Brain for Business Institute, where they work with organizations to increase business results via human behavior. In 2010, they published their book, A New Brain for Business: Leadership Practices that Unleash the Very Best from Your People and Your Business.
